About

How we run things

Solstice is a small hosting company based in the UK. We run shared web hosting and game servers, and not much else. This page explains what that means in practice, including the parts that aren’t flattering.

01

We publish the specification, then stick to it

Every figure on this site is the figure you get. Storage is storage, bandwidth is bandwidth, and the CPU listed against a game plan is the CPU it runs on. Nothing here is a peak number with a footnote attached.

That’s the main reason to buy from a host this size. We don’t need to describe a plan creatively to make it sell, so we don’t.

02

Two products, on purpose

Web hosting on LiteSpeed and cPanel, game servers on Pterodactyl. We could list a dozen more product lines and staff none of them properly. Keeping the catalogue short is what lets us answer a ticket about it.

03

The hardware is bought, not built

We don’t own datacentres, and web hosting and game servers don’t run on the same ones. Web hosting is leased from Brixly in the UK. Game servers are leased from OVH in Germany and ReliableSite in New York. Three separate companies, and we name them rather than talk about “our network” as if it were one thing. Full detail on the providers page.

04

What we’re not

We’re not a managed provider. We won’t build your site, tune your modpack or take ownership of your application. We’re not the cheapest host you’ll find either, and if raw price is the only thing that matters you’ll do better elsewhere.

What we do is keep the machines running, answer when you write in, and describe the product accurately. We aim to provide you the best experience possible. If that's not what you're looking for, we're not for you.
